Abstract

A book-chapter contribution exploring the role of oxidative stress in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis for an interdisciplinary audience spanning neuroscience, materials science, and point-of-care diagnostics — synthesising evidence on reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial dysfunction, neuronal vulnerability, and nanodevice-enabled diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Demonstrates range from journals to invited book chapters.

Full Abstract

This book chapter explores the critical role of oxidative stress in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis for an interdisciplinary audience spanning neuroscience, materials science, and point-of-care diagnostics. The chapter synthesises current evidence on reactive oxygen species generation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuronal vulnerability in the context of Alzheimer's pathology. Emerging nanodevice-enabled diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies targeting oxidative stress are discussed. The chapter demonstrates the translation of mechanistic understanding of oxidative stress into point-of-care applications, bridging fundamental neuroscience with diagnostic technology development.
